Carr Haus

Located at 29 Waterman Street Carr Haus Cafe is essential to RISD student life; providing students with an alternative–eating venue, gallery and community space unlike any other on campus. Carr Haus provides this cross cultural atmosphere for students who live on and off campus to meet, socialize and develop a unique community which supports and enriches the students’ lives academically and socially. The addition of computers, wireless internet and an audio system provide an invaluable and connected space to work, socialize and relax. Carr Haus runs an open mic night, lecture series, poetry reading and gallery openings motivated and facilitated by students for students. In addition, Carr Haus is available
for programming through departments and student organizations. One of the most important developments in Carr Haus’ programming is the success of a student-run gallery, the only of its kind on the RISD campus. Carr Haus allows under as well as upperclassmen to exhibit their work in a multi–disciplinary setting. Students are able to maintain a public dialogue through their work because it is accessible to all.
