Artist Ball
The Artist Ball traditionally takes place during the fall of each school year. At a time when the weather is chilling, ballgoers warm up to hot music, and wild dancing. Musical guests have included internationally renowned artists such as GrandMaster Flash, Yerba Buena, and DJ Scratch. This event is a time to let loose and socialize, plus an opportunity for students to showcase their creative talents within a wide community of peers. What makes this event memorable is the ceaseless invention of funky costumes and impromptu performances. RISD has joined forces with the online student resource, The Daily Jolt, to host a national costume contest surveying the most creative and prestigious colleges throughout the country. RISD students have consistently won the contest throughout recent history, with prizes ranging from ipods to trips to Europe.
